Goodbye March

I sort of peaked and fell hard this month. I spent a lot of time at my work space, but I wasn't as on top of everything as I wanted to be for most of the month. I had a nearly three month run of positive productivity and inspiration, but it all evaporated for a little while in March. Thanks March. Although I shouldn't be so spiteful towards a month for something that was bound to happen. I was a bit stuck. I think I fell too far into a routine that was nurturing in the beginning, but it had been stretched too far. However, as the trees began to bloom again, so did I. In the last few days of the month, everything was suddenly better. I like what I'm doing again, and I've got the inspiration I was missing for a couple weeks. This is so normal though, it happens all the time, but that doesn't mean it's ever easy.

This was dramatic. Everything's cool now.

Doodle Every Day

Trying new things, liking some things.

Flare

Well that escalated quickly. Remember when flared jeans were the thing in the early 2000's? Then middle school happened and I only wanted to wear skinny jeans for the rest of my life. It wasn't hard to get the idea of flares back in my mind. This time though, I'll be leaning for a 70's vibe (see the two pairs I'm coveting above), to go with all the dresses I want to fill my wardrobe with. Spring has brought an array of new style ideas. It's about time.

Also "70's vibe" is so cringy to type, I'm sorry.

Looking For Perfect Gold Ink

Maybe I need to find a better art supply store around here. Maybe that's my problem. Okay, I bought this ink some time in February (I think?) and I was so excited, then so let down. This brand is really thin and watery, and it did not have the desired effect. I've looked at two major chain craft stores, and I've found nothing. I've been looking on Amazon as well, and I'm thinking about giving Winsor & Newton a try next. If anyone has ink recommendations, please let me know.

While I Still Can

I'm going to miss this sweater, let's be real. It's not loosely knit enough to sneak into an oddly cool summer night, so I'll be tearfully putting it aside soon. The pants can stay though. Those are fine.

I read somewhere that some people think bloggers are sloppy when they don't have much to say in a post, but I don't think they quite get just how different people, therefor blogs, actually are. Sometimes I'd rather speak through photos. Like now.

Etsy Is A Lingerie Gold Mine

Because I live in the middle of nowhere, shopping in person is very limited. Obviously I just go to another town, but that takes time, and my focus is rarely on underwear. Very rarely. Instead, I usually look online, specifically on Etsy, aka the best website to find everything you could ever want ever. We all know that the perfect lingerie can affect a mood for the entire day, so here are some pieces I've had my eye on. Maybe you'll love them too.

Last Night

If I were more open, this would be a train wreck. I've spent too much time on one medium, and I'm having an art breakdown.

Doodle Every Day

I like some of these more than others. I'll figure out how to get rid of the waves one day.

Pillar Candles

I've been going through candles like crazy lately (lately being the last year or so), and last month I suddenly had this realization that I was wasting way too much glass and tin once the candles were burned out and I had no use for the containers. The solution was an easy one though; I've got a few different candle holders stored away, and pillar candles are cheaper anyway. Now I'm sitting next to a really nice candle holder and pillar burning away, and my waste footprint is a tiny bit smaller.

Overalls

Hi guys. This was fun, and that is the best Spring/Summer top. I need a million. So, I've been sobbing over full overalls (like these) for awhile (not really that long but still), but it's getting warm again, and I've got the short version to hold me off for another six or seven months. Maybe. I wonder if I could get myself to draw outside today. Again, maybe.

Fresh Recipe Ideas For Spring

With Spring suddenly here (like a slap in the face, wow), I've been wanting everything to be clean and fresh. Windows stay open, plenty of water stay in reach, and laundry day is the best. I've also been obsessively wanting to eat fresh food, nothing heavy. I thought I'd share a few recipes I've got my eye on in case anyone else has been feeling the same. They're all pretty much primarily fruit based, and they look fairly easy to throw together. If anyone knows any fresh vegetable recipes, please send them my way!

Art Update

Time flies with these posts! I apologize profusely for the wavy paper. I'm kind of horrified at this point. Anyway, I've been obsessed with traveling and interiors lately, as per usual, and I watched The Duchess for the first time and had to take ink and paint to paper immediately. I've also been working on becoming as comfortable with color as possible. Seems to be working.

Blog Recomendations

I'm playing catch up on a few things today, so I'll leave you with a list of some of my favorite blogs to read/browse through lately. I hope you'll find some inspiration somewhere today.

Statement Ring

This was kind an excuse to take photos of my weird hands, but also a legitimate note about statement rings. I tend to learn towards staple pieces that I can wear all the time, but I've got this massive ring that I've had for some years, and I sort of just remembered it's existence? I like it. It sticks out a lot, so I'll pair it with a really basic outfit. Invest in statement rings you guys.

Doodle Every Day

I hope you'll enjoy something in this batch of doodles. I really, really hate the illustration from the tenth, but I was sick, and there's really nothing I can do now. I like the other things though. I've been feeling whimsical where art is concerned lately. (Or always, but more so lately.)

Paris Fashion Week Favorites

Paris has brought all of the excitement, as per usual. There's something about the shows this week that has really inspired me, both artistically and in my wardrobe choices. Paris is always so flawless, feminine but androgynous, effortless, etc. Powerful as well. PFW was not without drama though. There was plenty of obscurity to go around, and that's what makes it so fun, right? Putting on a show. This was the best end to the month. Though I'm sad to see it end, I feel refreshed (and ready for a trip to France). Now if you'll excuse me, I'll be dreaming of dresses and wide leg trousers.

Looking Back At Old Sketchbooks

Looking back through old sketchbooks and the like is something I don't do often, but it's always interesting. I notice little things I've stopped doing, and decide if it was for the best or if I should consider trying again. I notice how much my "style" has changed. For instance, I use a lot more color now. I know the scans above don't give a completely solid idea of everything I did at the time, but it was a lot of black and white and nothing else. So basically I'm a lot less afraid of color now, and I'm pretty proud of that. I don't really know what else to say, but I can see that I've improved in my own eyes at least, and that's important. Take a look back at where you were a year (or three) ago. Do you see how far you've come?

* I also used to use my sketchbooks as diaries, so the fussy lines were angsty teenage rambles. Fun.
