Autumnal Lip Novice

I'm such a novice.

I watched Sofia Coppola's Marie Antoinette for the first time when I was 14. That launched the obsession with berry lip colors. This was a few years before I started my first blog, and I wasn't really aware of certain colors being reserved for Autumn. However, I never really got around to trying the lip shades myself as a teenager. Now I've got this. It's L'Oreal Paris Color Riche liquid lipstick in the shade Plum Adagio. It's driven me insane.

This is a total miss for me. I'm fine with lipstick, I really am. I wear lipstick. It's one of the few makeup products I can handle. This is obviously not a normal lipstick. It was labeled as a liquid lipstick, but after failing to make it work numerous times, I think it's more of a lip stain. The first few times I applied the product, I couldn't figure out why it was patchy, and it never dried. When I was taking these photos, I figured out that by blotting, I end up with a slightly darker stain than my natural lip color. This is not worth the bother to be honest. I need a dark lipstick y'all.

Makeup is too hard.

  2. That is a very nice lip colour! You should try contouring the lips first, it really helps! xx, Alma

  4. AH, finding the perfect shade that you have in your mind can be such a challenge - I went four months before laying eyes upon the perfect gloss.. and that was just to layer OVER a lipstick! Anyway, this shade looks lovely on you - it's such a deep berry when first applied on your lips :)
