The Nutcracker Appreciation

I think I talk about my love for The Nutcracker every year on this blog, so of course this year is no exception. To make a long story short; The Nutcracker ballet is one of my all time favorite things about Christmastime, and I make an effort to listen to it all season long, and catch it in person every chance I get. Unfortunately, I haven't had time to fit the ballet into my plans this December, so I thought I'd find it on YouTube, and share it here, in case anyone else wants to add a little whimsy to their Sunday.

This particular video is from the Mariinsky Theatre in St Petersburg, December 2012. It's beautiful. Enjoy!

  1. I've had the chance to see The Nutcracker once and loved it. Always amazes me how the dancers just seem to float on stage despite how hard their job is.

  2. I can completely understand why you love The Nutcracker so much; it's beautiful, festive and magical! I've really missed not seeing a performance of it this Christmas - there's no WAY i'll miss it next year :) (Thanks for the link to the video, by the way!)

  3. I have been in The Nutcracker no less than 8 times. No joke. Somehow though, I still love it and have a good time practicing the sugar plum solo every year, even though I don't perform anymore.

    1. Oh wow! I had no idea Elizabeth. I'd imagine it to be a magical experience, but I'm sure it's a lot more difficult behind the scenes. I hope you continue to love it!
