Yarn On the Wall

I honestly don't have any idea how to address what's going on in the world and in this country. I'm not good at that. I choose not to speak about things like that here, and I'm allowed to run my blog like so. There are so many others who can articulate the sadness much better than I. You should read what they say. Stay informed.

Anyway, January is almost over, and I think I'm sticking to this new schedule. Not think, I am. At least for awhile longer. I'm still open to your opinions on the schedule. Let me know.

I spent the weekend working on the new header for this blog, so expect that soon. I had a breakthrough and suddenly missed the tulle and whimsy that took up my life and wardrobe. The new year kind of sucked it out of me, but I need it now more than ever. More whimsy please, and more open windows, and more walks through my quiet town. That's where I'm at mentally, at least. Physically, I'm sitting in my living room, under a blanket, with all of the doors and windows closed. I'm cozy though. It's a compromise.

I threw this up on the wall (more like spent too much time on it) last week, and it was actually a lot of fun. It's given me some ideas for future art projects. This one is temporary, though I don't know how long it'll stay up at this time. It's still up as I write this. The yarn project was an experiment, and I've been wanting to do more experiments. To be frank, my antidepressant has helped me branch out creatively as well. It's just helped with everything, but I've been following through with more ideas art-wise.

I hope you're all having a creative and/or productive start to the week. End January on a high!

  1. I miss having you "around" every day, but if you like this schedule and definitely think you should go for it! I loved going from 7 days to 5 days hahah, so who knows, I might be joining 3 days at some point in the future! And love this DIY, have seen it on Pinterest and I love how it looks, so simple and stylish!

  2. That's gorgeous! I love using yarn for decor, I can't knit so I have to use it for other things, haha. This looks awesome though, might steal this idea someday!

  3. I agree and think it's okay to post happier things as there is so much negativity right now in the world. This yarn DIY is unique and adds a playful element to the home. <3 /Madison

  4. This is so unusual Amber, your mind seems to be full of lovely ideas and artistic concepts. I'm looking forward to seeing your new blog header!

ps. also 100% in a 'curl underneath a blanket, be cosy and shut out the world' kind of mood right now too, haha.

  5. This is a really cool, and creative idea! I've been trying to be more creative lately also, mostly through taking photos obsessively. But this is a really neat idea and now I feel inspired to try some unusual art projects.

As for what's going on in the world- I totally agree. Part of me wants to talk about the big issues on my blog but part of me always feels like I'll leave something out, or I'm not informed enough, or somebody else will do it better than me. It's a frustrating time for a lot of people. Glad you can funnel that into a cool creative project!

    1. Thank you Julia, and I hope you do! I definitely get that. I'm afraid I'll forget something or word something wrong, so I leave it to those more eloquent than me. I'm glad you understand!
