Autumnal Hat Scarves

So I've had these extra scarves and a scrap piece of ribbon, and my first thought was to throw them all on a hat. Logical, right?

And that's about all I really had in mind for this post. I wanted to wear a hat and decorate it. That's it. I thought I'd also tack on a little stream of consciousness for substance.

As I type this sentence, it's 2:19 AM. A little less than seven hours before this post goes live. I'm very tired. I can't sleep. I keep thinking about packing and stress and being away from home for a week. I just narrowly avoided stomping on a lizard in my hallway, poor thing.

I was just thinking about my 2017 resolutions. Resolution, actually. I only really had the one, which was to be softer. I wanted to be kinder and lighter and happier. I feel very harsh right now. I don't know if it's a bad thing, but it's not the path I intended. I need to think about what I'm doing, and how I'm treating myself. This year, so far, has brought progress, yes, but the one goal I set is so far away from me, and it's almost October.

I'm thinking about that a lot suddenly. I need some whimsy. I need some happiness. Good God, that's what the problem is!

I need a therapist is what I need. Or spontaneity? Midday walks around town?

Also, very important! I'm going to be sorting through old illustrations and selling prints! I'll also be working on new pieces soon, and those will go up as well. Is there still any interest in that? Let me know!

(If you need a refresher, take a peek here!)

  1. How cool! I have this black hat which I think is so plain, but I've never thought about putting a scarf around it! Awesome! :D

  2. Oh I love the hats, great DIY and fashion statement. Also love the makeup Amber, so pretty and fall!

And as for you resolution, it's never ever to late to make it happen this year (or in life). There are still three months left of this year and I have no doubt you can make it. I can only say what's worked for me, in becoming more happy and positive, is to write gratitude lists. Just write down all the things you're happy for and do it often (daily is to prefer but easy to forget haha). It's about the smallest things, like the fact that it's fall right this moment. Or that the fact the color orange exists (or something haha). For me it added value to so many things I just took for granted. Suddenly my favorite tea became even better as I kept writing down that I was grateful for it? My world of things I loved expanded as I kept adding value to more things in my life. And it was also important for me to write down positive things about myself and abilities. Appreciate myself more. Cause you can't really be that happy light if you can't make yourself happy, right? Anyways, that worked for me at least. It shifted my mindset and although these things are so specific and individual, I thought I'd share at least!

Hope you'll have a nice week away! Mia, Xx

    1. Thanks Mia! A gratitude list is a great idea. I've got to try that. Thanks for the advice!

  3. I hope you reach your 2017 goal of being softer Amber, there's still plenty of time to achieve it - especially as you're so conscious of what you're feeling right now! :)

  4. Yeah girl sell some prints! Being softer is one of my goals too, tbh.

  5. Aw I adore your hats (those vintage vibes!) and loved what you wrote too, it is wonderful to be self aware on that level :D it sounds like you are in perfectly in tune with yourself, you are heading in the right direction! xx

  6. This is completely belated. I read this post on my Bloglovin' app, but forgot to comment on my computer. Yes, to being softer, if that's how you want to change in the forward direction. Nothing wrong with a bit of hard and soft simultaneously.

ALSO: I think the new hair and makeup look absolutely amazing on you. That burnt, brick red autumnal eyeshadow look is one I envy and can't quite pull off myself.

    1. That's fine! We're all busy ladies, I get it. Thank you Alyse!
