Notes from My Weekend

Let me set the scene:  

It's Saturday. I have a sick dog, so I was up all night worrying, and slept until it was nearly noon. I was in a bit of a grumpy mood, and I had holed myself up in my little cave, and that definitely wasn't helping my mood. 

At one point, I had to make a quick run to the bank (because there's barely anything in my town, but there is a bank somehow), and just getting out of my house for ten minutes and driving to the bank made me feel so much better. The atmosphere was lovely and I took a small detour to drive down my favorite street, and by the time I got back home, I was totally fine. I wasn't being a grump anymore. Problem solved.

If you're feeling pretty shit today, take a break, and walk outside. Breathe. Take a walk, drive around your tiny town, sit in a courtyard - whatever is available to you. Go outside.

On another note; I actually had a pretty productive weekend in general. I took some photos, officially bought the final pieces that I've felt like my wardrobe has needed for ages, and got some more Christmas shopping done. I want to buy everyone's gifts as early as possible to free up time to actually enjoy the season even more.

I also pulled all of my Autumnal and Halloween decorations out of storage, though they're not all up yet. I somehow forgot about pieces that I bought last year, so it was like having new things all over again. Now that it's getting cooler, I can open my bedroom window up and touch up the paint where I patched up old nail and thumbtack holes. No more yellow patches on my walls? Yes please! Hopefully I'll get to that this week.

I fell asleep wrapped up in a blanket, on a hammock, outside on Sunday morning. It was freezing out, and I eventually went inside and curled up with my dog in bed. I slept all of Sunday morning. It was wonderful. The evening kind of abruptly took a turn for the annoying when I found out that my town was/is under an indefinite boil water notice, but you know, win some, lose some.

  1. You're totally right, sometimes all you need is to break from routine and head outdoors. Your Sunday morning sounds lovely; lie-ins are the best!
